Members’ Meeting: Thursday, June 21st

Our speaker on Thursday, 21st June was Charlie Hitchens, a long-serving local magistrate, who spoke to a small but responsive audience about the history of the role and how it has changed, what being a magistrate involves, and some of the thorny issues that magistrates have to address. Charlie was happy to take questions along the way, and – although we missed a number of our members who were on holiday or had other commitments that evening – those present were able to take advantage of the more intimate atmosphere to chip in with questions and comments along the way. he also included some personal anecdotes gleaned from his many years on the bench. Thank you Charlie.
